The atelier.

How a Notte & Noir piece is made, from the first thread to the last stitch. Short films from the cutting table, no sound, no voice-over.

The house rules

Four things we never skip.

Every Notte & Noir piece passes the same four tests before it goes into production. Scroll through them, or tap one to jump.

From sketch to piece

From sketch to stock.

We choose the fabric first: a lace, a crepe, a knit. Its weight and drape decide what the piece can become.

Sketches are drawn in London, then cut down to the few lines that matter. Most ideas stop here.

The drawing becomes a pattern, and we test it in calico before any real fabric is cut.

Each sample is fitted on several women, not one. Shoulders, waist and hem move until the piece works on all of them.

Our manufacturing partner produces the approved style, and we check the first pieces against the sample. When a size runs low we produce it again, so nothing is gone for good.

Fabric & care

Made to last.

Hand wash cold, or dry clean. Lay flat to dry and never wring. Store folded in tissue, not on a hanger.

Dry clean only. Brush after wearing and hang on a shaped hanger so the shoulders keep their line.

Hand wash cool with a wool detergent. Reshape while damp and dry flat, away from heat.

If a seam or a lace edge gives way, write to us. We would rather mend a piece than see it replaced.
