Each sample is fitted on several women, not one. Shoulders, waist and hem are pinned and moved until the piece works on all of them.

This is where a size becomes a shape. UK 8 to UK 20 are graded from these fittings, not from a chart.

If a piece only looks right on the model, it does not go into the collection.
